Klosters has put a lot of thought into offering many winter activities for
the non-skier. The village is especially proud of its "winterwegs". These are
50km of especially prepared walks through the forests and mountains where the
snow has been cleared sufficiently to allow walkers to the glorious countryside.
Sightings of animals such as red squirrels, and chamois can be made. Three mountains
have exclusive toboggan runs exceeding 5km each. At the beginning of each run
toboggans can be hired for a few Swiss francs.
There is also a complex of natural ice rinks offering skating, ice hockey and
curling. Skates can be hired very cheaply. And the locals encourage foreigners
to join their team games. There are no less than five indoor swimming pools around
the resort that can be used for a small fee as well as saunas, spas and massages,
all available to anyone in the resort for a small charge.
Snow rides on mountain railways, cable car rides to the peaks and shopping
trips to neighbouring towns and villages all ensure Klosters offers far more for
non-skiers than most purpose-built resorts.
